It depends what sort of tools you're looking for - a screwdriver or a network connectivity tester

. Seriously, you mention some of the Active State products in another thread and I understand them to be good; personally I do a lot of command line / text editor stuff to keep me fresh in the basics as I have to cover a lot of languages.
