extract a block of data Posted by dee00zee (dee00zee), 12 October 2005 I want to extract data from Block A until End Block A only. How to do that in Tcl?Example: Introduction bla bla bla Some data here Block A Name: Address: Phone: Education: End Block A More data etc etc More data etc etc Posted by admin (Graham Ellis), 12 October 2005 Write a program with a loop to read the data file line by line. Set a variable to the value "0" at the start of your program, and then set it to "1" in the loop if you find the start marker, and back to 0 if you find the end marker. Also within the loop, use the append command to build up a string that contains the file contents, but only if the variable described in the previous paragraph is set to "1". Depending on whether you append the string before or after the test for the start and end markers, you will / will not end up with the marker as a part of the string you're extracting.
