For 2023 (and 2024 ...) - we are now fully retired from IT training.
We have made many, many friends over 25 years of teaching about Python, Tcl, Perl, PHP, Lua, Java, C and C++ - and MySQL, Linux and Solaris/SunOS too. Our training notes are now very much out of date, but due to upward compatability most of our examples remain operational and even relevant ad you are welcome to make us if them "as seen" and at your own risk.

Lisa and I (Graham) now live in what was our training centre in Melksham - happy to meet with former delegates here - but do check ahead before coming round. We are far from inactive - rather, enjoying the times that we are retired but still healthy enough in mind and body to be active!

I am also active in many other area and still look after a lot of web sites - you can find an index ((here))
calling  a Expect Procedure from Unix Shell Script

Posted by sarathy_groups (sarathy_groups), 28 July 2005
Hi Expect Gurus,

I have a utility.exp file (expect file)comprising of around 20 procedures.

I need to call these individual procedures from unix shell script passing the arguments,

I would like to know how to make a call to those procedures present in a expect file from a unix shell script?

Thanks in advance, ,
Partha

Sounds like to need to write a piece of main code (not in procs) that interprets your command line and runs whichever proc you need.   There's no easy way to say with a command line option "read this file, and just run the proc called xxxx" which I think is what you were hoping for.

Edit to add - I understand from a personal message I've got that my suggestion has solved the question / resolved the issue. Glad to be of service.
