Decimal to Hexadecimal conversion

How do you use 'format' to get a hex number from a decimal value (I have done it the long way by writing a procedure which seems a bit silly)

Use the format command, the %x formatter.   Here's an interactive example:

% set num 20
20
% puts [format %x $num]
14
%
