For 2023 (and 2024 ...) - we are now fully retired from IT training.
We have made many, many friends over 25 years of teaching about Python, Tcl, Perl, PHP, Lua, Java, C and C++ - and MySQL, Linux and Solaris/SunOS too. Our training notes are now very much out of date, but due to upward compatability most of our examples remain operational and even relevant ad you are welcome to make us if them "as seen" and at your own risk.

Lisa and I (Graham) now live in what was our training centre in Melksham - happy to meet with former delegates here - but do check ahead before coming round. We are far from inactive - rather, enjoying the times that we are retired but still healthy enough in mind and body to be active!

I am also active in many other area and still look after a lot of web sites - you can find an index ((here))

Posted by bhavik (bhavik), 7 December 2007
Hi folks,

to store expect_out(buffer) of the process I hav create file(which is differ each time since it has time as in its name) in varible dir. (again it has week as in its name)......

e.g.- ~/$WEEK_DIR/AIX_snapshot_$TIME_FILE.txt ......

problem is i dont know how create dir n file as per above e.g. within my expect script otherwise i've to create dir 1st then i've code which is creating file(n working by creating dir. externally) but not dir.

CODE:
============
exec date +%yW%w > dir_name
exec date +%yW%W.%w_%H_%S > newtime
set WEEK_DIR [exec cat dir_name]
set TIME_FILE [exec cat newtime]
set filename "~/$WEEK_DIR/AIX_snapshot_$TIME_FILE.txt"
set fileId [open $filename "w"]

=============

Thanks in advance..

The command

file mkdir splot

will create a directory called "splot" in the curent directory.  You can also use absolute paths, relative paths, etc, in the nomal way.  Note that if you want to create a whole directory tree, you should start off at the top of the tree and create the subdirectories one by one.
