For 2023 (and 2024 ...) - we are now fully retired from IT training.
We have made many, many friends over 25 years of teaching about Python, Tcl, Perl, PHP, Lua, Java, C and C++ - and MySQL, Linux and Solaris/SunOS too. Our training notes are now very much out of date, but due to upward compatability most of our examples remain operational and even relevant ad you are welcome to make us if them "as seen" and at your own risk.

Lisa and I (Graham) now live in what was our training centre in Melksham - happy to meet with former delegates here - but do check ahead before coming round. We are far from inactive - rather, enjoying the times that we are retired but still healthy enough in mind and body to be active!

I am also active in many other area and still look after a lot of web sites - you can find an index ((here))
Using Tcltest for Tk GUI

Posted by Verona (Verona), 14 September 2007
Hello,

I am new in Tcl/Tk and I am using tcltest for testing a GUI which is written by Iwidget library. I have read that tcltest allows GUI tests
but I have problem with pressing any button on dialogshell like OK, Cancel.

I use following code for it
.pn invoke OK or .pn invoke 0.
where .pn is the dialog box which contains OK and Cancel buttons.

I have also used

event generate $button_id <ButtonPress-1>
event generate $button_id <ButtonRelease-1>

But this does not effect anywhere.

Please, help me to understand the problem.

Thanks in advance,
Verona.

Hi .... I've been watching to see if anyone else can chip in with an answer here, as the particular widget set is not one I've got much experience with, and not in association with tcltest for sure.  However, looks like this is one of those posts that's so niche that you've not even found any suggestions yet.

I'm not actually sure that you've posted enough code to help us resolve the issue, though - perhaps if you actually add some of the event handler code / widget definition, it may give me (or you) a further clue?
