info regarding timeout in case of expect Posted by vikas (vikas), 21 July 2005 hey i am telneting a particular router and getting the interface info by show info command. i have automated this with expect. Now i am to get the interface name only.out of the whole text. i am trying to save everything before the next # but my expect_out(buffer) is able to save only some part of the whole text. Can anybody help Regards Vikas Posted by admin (Graham Ellis), 21 July 2005 Are you able to post a few lines of code that show the problem? It could be that you're expecting a massive amount of data and only getting a part of it (I'm not sure what / if there's a limit - I vaguely recall 32k), or it could be that the pattern you're expecting as the next prompt is also matched within the response - so that you're only getting the text back through to that point. You subject line says "timeout". How do timeouts relate to your question? This page is a thread posted to the opentalk forum
