Quiz: source [ locate myscript.tcl] doesn't work.. Posted by c0 (c0), 7 February 2005 Does anybody know of some problems with"source [locate /.../.../.../myscript.tcl]" over NFS mounted directories ? I get: couldn't read file "/.../.../.../myscript.tcl": no such file or directory while executing "source [locate /.../.../.../myscript.tcl]" The weird thing is that 9 out of 10 times all functions properly. The only thing is that this file is sourced by multiple scripts simultaneously. Does "source [ locate ..." require write permissions or block simultaneous access in any way ? Anyone got some experiences with NFS mounts and "source [ locate" perhaps ? Posted by Custard (Custard), 7 February 2005 Do you really mean /.../... or did you mean /../ ?.. (double dot) means the parent directory. ... (three dots means nothing (AFAICR)) B Posted by c0 (c0), 7 February 2005 /.../.../.../ = read: path to a filePosted by Custard (Custard), 7 February 2005 Sorry, wasn't sure as your error message had '...' too..Well, permissions spring to mind, but you say it works 9 out of 10 times? . Hmmm. Are your systems Unix or Windows or a mixture? Are your multiple processes on the same machine or different ones? AFAICR source does no locking as it only reads. Locking on NFS is complex or non existant. If your NFS client machine is Windows, maybe Windows is doing some kind of locking. (I am not very familiar with Windows). Sorry I can't be more helpful, but maybe if you provide some answers to the above, I or someone else may be able to help more. B Posted by selfism (selfism), 7 February 2005 If you can trace the calls the program is making and the response it is getting you may be able to isolate it a little more. For Windoz no idea ! For Linux: strace yourprogram For Solaris: truss yourprogram This has helped me solve many problems, I hope it helps! This page is a thread posted to the opentalk forum
