Display a value in an entry box Posted by paolillo (paolillo), 29 May 2006 Dear TCL/TK developers,I have built a graphical interface that gets values in entry boxes to be saved in a particular configuration file. My desire is to give to the user already a value written in each entry box, when he invokes again the GUI. He should be able to change it obviously. The most useful thing would be that the displayed values are the values that were set in the end of the previouse session. This thing is important, so the user can have two information: 1) a suggestion about the type of value that each parameter wants; 2) information about the values that are currently set. The point 1) is for me now the most important, so my question is: how can I display a value in an entry box at the very beginning of a session of my GUI? Thank You very much , Paolo Posted by admin (Graham Ellis), 29 May 2006 I normally use entry boxes with textvariables, so:set initial "Start With This" entry .ebox -textvariable initial Posted by paolillo (paolillo), 29 May 2006 Thank You, i realize it was a stupid question! Paolo Posted by admin (Graham Ellis), 29 May 2006 Ah, but it is NOT stupid if you haven't happened to read pages 200 to 202 of a textbook you've probably not got I'm very happy indeed to answer questions such as this - just occasionally a bit terse as at times I'm doing so from poor and expensive internet connections - this week, for example, I'm teching in Saudi Arabia and using a hotel modem! So I have turned down Iraq, and I've not been able to provide courses much closer to home in some European countries where the course has to bein the local language. But, sure, I've visited 4 continents as a result of our business and trained on 3. The distant courses tend to be arranged by individual customer organisations, for groups of their delegates. Single delegates often travel to our centre in the UK. This page is a thread posted to the opentalk forum
