trying to create test file of existing cgi page --

Posted by mparker1113 (mparker1113), 15 February 2007
Hello,

I have a site I have inherited that has a page which calls a cgi applictation with the following syntax:

<!--#exec cmd="/home/sites/site25/web/books/profile_cl.cgi"-->

The calling page is a SHTML page.

I have attempted to doctor this code to call a copy of the cgi page that I can do tests on "profile_cl2.cgi" and have made a copy of the original page and renamed it in the same directory.

When I call my  new shtml page ("shtmPage2.shtml") it works fine if I have it call the original cgi page ("profile_cl.cgi"). However, if I code it to call up the test page "profile_cl2.cgi" i get no results.

Anyone know where I can be going wrong?

(thanks)

What's the difference between the two files? File permissions? File ownership? If the content is equal, that's where I would look.   I would also look in the Apache error log file and see if that gave any clues.

Okay, will check the error log, since all else is equal with the files other than the name.
