detecting browser cookies

Posted by samsonp81 (samsonp81), 22 March 2006
hi!

how to detect from server side whether the client browser supports cookies or not can anyone help me?

The only way you can know for sure is by sending out a cookie in one form and seeing if it comes back in the next; if you send out a hidden field too and see if that comes back but no cookie, then you've establlished your session but must do the whole thing through hidden fields.   You can often make a very good guess that some browsers won't accept cookies by looking at the browser string ... things like robots don't usually remember cookies I don't think!
