Renaming and Editing Multiple files Posted by AMDME (AMDME), 17 April 2008 Dear editor,I am a totally newbie to perl. I have a task that will take me 2-3 days and i believe perl script can help me solve within 1 hour ![]() I have a file (a.xls) with the following content: 200 Edwin 201 Susan 202 Winnie ... 500 Tom I need to create a profile for each of them with a following filenames and content format: [200] Edwin.txt Contents: " Name : Edwin Seat Number : 200 Mr. Edwin, You are invited to proceed to Seat : 200 " I know this might sound very simple but i am a totally newbie to programming. Do you know the basic file handling and I/O operations of perl? Do you know basic data munging techniques? Anything? But after i go through some of the forum here, i knwo perl will be very helpful for me not just at this moment, but in future as well. I plan to learn it and i will be very grateful if you can help me at this point and i will start my learning from there.
