For 2023 (and 2024 ...) - we are now fully retired from IT training.
We have made many, many friends over 25 years of teaching about Python, Tcl, Perl, PHP, Lua, Java, C and C++ - and MySQL, Linux and Solaris/SunOS too. Our training notes are now very much out of date, but due to upward compatability most of our examples remain operational and even relevant ad you are welcome to make us if them "as seen" and at your own risk.

Lisa and I (Graham) now live in what was our training centre in Melksham - happy to meet with former delegates here - but do check ahead before coming round. We are far from inactive - rather, enjoying the times that we are retired but still healthy enough in mind and body to be active!

I am also active in many other area and still look after a lot of web sites - you can find an index ((here))
.inc files

Posted by Chris_Isaac (Chris Isaac), 18 August 2008
I'm currently revamping one of my sites, and I have a .inc file at the top of the page, the path to which is:

include("c:\Program Files\Apache\Apache2\htdocs\Websites\newaccomfinder\data\standard.inc");

where you see newaccomfinder, this was originally seperated by spaces, and all is working well, since I have removed the spaces (and updated all links) it doesn't include the file, if I put the standard.inc file a few directories above, say under \websites it works fine.

I've no idea where I've gone wrong, is there anything obvious I've missed?

Ok, I hate it when I do this, I've now sorted the problem by changing all the '\' to '/' but I still do not know why it was working before and stopped, any ideas?

A change from single to double quotes?   In double quotes, \ characters need doubling up - "I really want a \" ?

Of course, can see it now, I was in effect putting a \n new line character in.

Thanks again.
