PHP and Google Maps API Posted by dave667 (dave667), 12 October 2007 Hello, I'm looking to create a pinboard map using Google Maps API.I've never used PHP before but understand I could have a user input text and GEOdata into text field this would then be added to a database (text file?). Java script could then read this file? and add a new marker to the map. How involved would this be? I'm might be looking for a freelancer to pull this off for me... many thanks d Posted by admin (Graham Ellis), 12 October 2007 There are some occasions when I get carried away and write a whole progranm as my answer. I've done so here ...Commented source code: http://www.wellho.net/resources/ex.php4?item=h999/gmap.php and the code in action: http://www.wellho.net/demo/gmap.php The adding of the database is probably "no great shakes" - a day or two's work perhaps. I would be happy to teach you how to do it, of course ![]() Posted by dave667 (dave667), 15 October 2007 Thanks for your reply Graham..being the designer I'm not sure whether I've got the time to juggle the code and the graphics for this site. Could you recommend to me any companies/inderviduals who would be willing to create this for me (the budget would allow two/three days work)?Posted by admin (Graham Ellis), 15 October 2007 Where abouts are you, Dave? In the UK? I think that someone closish by you might be a good idea so you can meet at least once or twice and crispen the spec - it would be all too easy to get the wrong product for you. If you prefer not to be too specific in the "open forum", you're welcome to email me - graham@wellho.net. It might even turn out to be an interesting advanced course project that kills several birds with one rock. This page is a thread posted to the opentalk forum
