For 2023 (and 2024 ...) - we are now fully retired from IT training.
We have made many, many friends over 25 years of teaching about Python, Tcl, Perl, PHP, Lua, Java, C and C++ - and MySQL, Linux and Solaris/SunOS too. Our training notes are now very much out of date, but due to upward compatability most of our examples remain operational and even relevant ad you are welcome to make us if them "as seen" and at your own risk.

Lisa and I (Graham) now live in what was our training centre in Melksham - happy to meet with former delegates here - but do check ahead before coming round. We are far from inactive - rather, enjoying the times that we are retired but still healthy enough in mind and body to be active!

I am also active in many other area and still look after a lot of web sites - you can find an index ((here))
PHP Website Hosting

Posted by petegraham (petegraham), 25 October 2005
I am looking for some website hosting where I can host sites for multiple commercial domains.

Ideally I would like a host that provides a typical LAMP installation, SSH access and (S)FTP/SCP file upload. If they have cPanel configured it would be a bonus.

Does anyone have any suggestions, or hosts that they would recommend or avoid?

Hope this is not considered to be off topic for the forum, I am seeking hosting for PHP sites after all .

Not off topic in the slightest, Pete ...

We use Hurricane Electric (www.he.net) and oneandone (www.oneandone.co.uk) for our hosting.  Hurricane has served us well over the years and continues to do so but you may find that they're one domain per account.  We've two setups at oneaneone - the first is a shared server, and the second is our own dedicated machine on which we can do - well - all sorts of things.   Both have multiple domains pointing to them.

Thanks Graham,

I shall look into those two hosts, have been researching a few but have made no decision yet.

Hi Pete

I use a company called goldvision.com where you can get either shared hosting or a virtual dedicated server, I've got the later and have about 10 domains all segregated on it.

Hope this helps.

As you are going to be hosting commercial sites.  Keep in mind when selecting your hosting that the EU has rules about personal information you collect be taken outside the EU area without consent of that person.
