For 2023 (and 2024 ...) - we are now fully retired from IT training.
We have made many, many friends over 25 years of teaching about Python, Tcl, Perl, PHP, Lua, Java, C and C++ - and MySQL, Linux and Solaris/SunOS too. Our training notes are now very much out of date, but due to upward compatability most of our examples remain operational and even relevant ad you are welcome to make us if them "as seen" and at your own risk.

Lisa and I (Graham) now live in what was our training centre in Melksham - happy to meet with former delegates here - but do check ahead before coming round. We are far from inactive - rather, enjoying the times that we are retired but still healthy enough in mind and body to be active!

I am also active in many other area and still look after a lot of web sites - you can find an index ((here))
getting a web forum to behave itself

Hello,
Have not been on the message board recently, but have been busy, never the less. I have receintly discovered php nuke, i went to Oxford to blackwells the bookshop and found a book  php nuke garage by Don Jones..
The up shot is I have got a new web site up and running in about 2 or 3 hours.. I was amazed.. but there are a few interesting quirky things.

I am not sure that the smily faces thing is working properly, and I wondered if this is a common problem on phpBB? Also It says that the message board was started in 1970?? strange. and not what i want at all, and finally the time displayed by the message board keeps being wrong, i'm on GMT + 2 can that be put right permanently? Every time i Correct it in the administration section the software seems to take no notice of me>

Of course I will be putting links on my new site to yourself very shortly, and will be adding as much interesting content to the site as I can manage.

Very many thanks for you help previously, Hope your all well in Melksham, I am still plugging away at php, mysql and php admin etc etc..

Kind Regards Julian

Sounds like a few relatively minor and permission things.  The date is probably a variable set to 0 - perhaps you edited something in the globals section and accidentally changed a name?   Is suspect a good look through the install dosc / FAQ will lead you to clues - you 're unlikely to be the first person to hit these and both PHP nuke and PHPbb are popular and commonly used.

Greetings fro Scotland
