For 2023 (and 2024 ...) - we are now fully retired from IT training.
We have made many, many friends over 25 years of teaching about Python, Tcl, Perl, PHP, Lua, Java, C and C++ - and MySQL, Linux and Solaris/SunOS too. Our training notes are now very much out of date, but due to upward compatability most of our examples remain operational and even relevant ad you are welcome to make us if them "as seen" and at your own risk.

Lisa and I (Graham) now live in what was our training centre in Melksham - happy to meet with former delegates here - but do check ahead before coming round. We are far from inactive - rather, enjoying the times that we are retired but still healthy enough in mind and body to be active!

I am also active in many other area and still look after a lot of web sites - you can find an index ((here))
IFrame and anchored links problem

Posted by TedH (TedH), 17 November 2006
Have discovered a problem reaching an anchored link that is beyond an iframe on an html page.

Code:
<div>
<iframe id="myframe" .....></iframe>
</div>

<div><a name="TRGT"></a>
This is what I want to target
</div>

When the link
Code:
(<a href="mypage.html#TRGT">Target</a>

is clicked, instead of going to the target I end up in the middle of the Iframe content. This happens with every browser I've tried it in, so it is not a specific browser problem.

Has anyone discovered a way around this?

I've posted in this section as this could relate to just about any programming language usage in relationship to HTML.

cheers - Ted

Ted, yikes ... I'm not really into 'iframes"  (I tend to be frame negative as a whole) so I would be experimenting just like you.     But here's a thought ... bring this along next weekend and I'm sure we'll have time to look at it / have others bounce it off.

Graham

(For anyone reading / wondering ... next weekend is Geekmas)

Will do Graham. This is a new one on me.

cheers - Ted

Oh yeah - how far are you guys from the train station?

My knee's still playing me up
Are there buses that go by your place?

Posted by admin (Graham Ellis), 18 November 2006
We're about a mile from the station ... which is NOT served by bus. However, the no. X72 bus stops right outside.

Let us know what time you'll be arriving and we can collect you from Chippenham, Melksham or Westbury stations.

That's great, will ring when we get there.

many thanks - Ted
