Putting contractors and contracts in touch Posted by admin (Graham Ellis), 11 September 2002 As well as being asked to provide training, I'm sometimes approached by people looking for temporary help to undertake some Perl / PHP / etc project. Personally, I'm so busy that I can only very occasionally such contracts. I'm also sometimes approached by people paying for their own training places (as opposed to those sponsored by an employer) asking if I know of anyone looking for someone to do a job. It would seem to make good sense for me to put people in touch, wouldn't it? I would certainly love to do folks the favour. However ... I typically don't have any good evaluation available to me of the jobs on offer, I typically don't know how trainees have got on with Perl / PHP etc after their early training days, and I have a duty of loyalty which must remain paramount to the employers who pay to send their staff to me for training. Impasse? Not quite! If you're looking for someone to help with a Perl (or any of our other languages) project, you're welcome to register with this bulletin board, and post here. Do remember to give people a way to answer you - they'll probably want to do so by email or messaging rather than by posting. Anything that's then worked out between the two parties is up to them; there's no form of recommendation either way from me, nor any charge - but I will let you buy me a pint if it works out!
