For 2023 (and 2024 ...) - we are now fully retired from IT training.
We have made many, many friends over 25 years of teaching about Python, Tcl, Perl, PHP, Lua, Java, C and C++ - and MySQL, Linux and Solaris/SunOS too. Our training notes are now very much out of date, but due to upward compatability most of our examples remain operational and even relevant ad you are welcome to make us if them "as seen" and at your own risk.

Lisa and I (Graham) now live in what was our training centre in Melksham - happy to meet with former delegates here - but do check ahead before coming round. We are far from inactive - rather, enjoying the times that we are retired but still healthy enough in mind and body to be active!

I am also active in many other area and still look after a lot of web sites - you can find an index ((here))
Zimbra Collaborative Suite

Posted by edmonds (edmonds), 2 December 2005
Hello All.

My regards.
I wish to get down serious with Zimbra Collaborative Suite (www.zimbra.com) but under my own way though. Not that complicated but only that I'm not using either of the OSs it requires. I wish to use it on Suse Linux 9.3 or better 10.
I did the installation and it went on fairly until towards the end when the system has to restart so that Zimbra servers are started. I get errors like failure of certain libraries (libssl something) failing when I read in the logs.
I try to start the servers & nothing shows like is running. Could it be due to the OS incorpatibility or something else I could fix & get moving?
I've also realised that it has affected a couple of mailing operations on my Suse Linux 9.3 box.
I could do with your help, buddies.
Thanks.

Hiya,

Never heard of 'zimbra'.

But, libssl is an SSL library for encryption.

If it is missing (have a look at the message in the log), you might like to have a go at installing something like OpenSSL (www.openssl.org).

It would be helpful to know what the errors in the logs actually are. This would at least enable us to have a guess at the cause.
