Views, triggers etc in MySQL? Posted by enquirer (enquirer), 22 March 2003 I need info regarding MySql.Do MySql have Triggers, Procedures, Views, Synonyms, Sequence In Oracle there is a functionality for creating the multiple schemas in the same database. Do MySql hasthe same functionality If so, can u please guide me.. Posted by admin (Graham Ellis), 22 March 2003 MySQL is characterised as a RDBMS that has a slimmer feature set than many database engines to provide a blistering performance. It will also ... err .... cost you a lot less than Oracle.MySQL release 4 has just moved from a Gamma to a production release in the last few days, and release 4 is an enabling release to re-write some of the underlying code in order to start adding additional facilities - some (but not all) of the things you mention are here already or coming. BUT .... I don't think that MySQL will ever include everything that's available in Oracle. If you're looking to write portable code that can run across many databases, MySQL is a great sample database to develop under; you don't need a heavy cpu to run it, and you can be more sure that facilities that you use in your code will easily port to Oracle (or SQL Server or some other system) than you could the other way around This page is a thread posted to the opentalk forum
