Are MySQL enquiries case sensitive?

Posted by admin (Graham Ellis), 23 September 2002
If you define a field as being a text field, then it's not case sensitive - if you define it as being a binary field (oops - that doesn't really mean it's binary ) then it is case sensitive.

Listening to stories about other database systems, the designer of every one of them has had to ask "what to do about case sensitivity".  I have reports of one system that's installed as case sensitive or not, and if you get it wrong, you have to re-install.   Sounds extraordinary - has anyone eslse ome across this?
