MySQL question Posted by albert85 (albert85), 4 January 2006 i wan't to ask that MySQL server can check the user on that time? if i want to do the update, i need to make sure that whether got user at that time, if there is the user we need to wait for there user and block the connection for other user then after their finish the transaction then we will close down the server. can someone provide me the solution on MySQL server thank you.Posted by admin (Graham Ellis), 4 January 2006 You can lock tables (or with certain types of tables you can lock rows). Then any new user will be locked if he/she tries to use a table or row that's already locked. That's the mechanism you should use rather than looking to run an enquiry to see if any other user is connected. You may also like to have a look at the commit and rollback commands if you're doing multitable updates using InnoDb tables.
