The Caldon Canal

Cheddleton, near Leek is in the Churnet Valley. An industrial outpost in the past, this area fell on hard times around 50 years ago and at one time the Black Lion pub, with no road access, was served only by a derelict railway and an abandoned canal. Now both have re-opened as tourist attractions, and there's much more to see too.
