Telford and Ironbridge
Telford is situated in the West Midlands - to the West of Birmingham and the east of Shrewsbury. The modern town of Telford celebrates the memory of Thomas Telford, the engineer from the industrial revolution who designed and constructed many of the canals.
Map locator - Telford The very seat of the revolution was at Coalbrookdale, now within the confines of the new town on the banks of the river Severn. Here, the world's first major bridge of Cast Iron was built. Today, there's plenty to see including the Bridge itself and the various sites of the Ironbridge Gorge Museum. ![]() Victorian Cottages, Ironbridge ![]() Close up of the Ironbridge ![]() The Iron Bridge ![]() Bedlam Furnaces ![]() Waste Land crop of fruit OPTIONS AVAILABLE TO YOU
