East Grafton Village Green

East Grafton is a small old village just a couple of miles south of the Kennet and Avon Canal and its summit pound where it crosses from the catchment of the Thames / Kennet to that of the Severn / Avon.

A number of very old and interesting cottages are clustered around a village green, with a sprinkling of really old trees.


Grafton Station

Here, there was a wayside station on the Midland and South West Junction Railway on its way from Cheltenham via Cirencester, Swindon and Marlborough to Ludgershall and Andover to Southampton - a long distance line built to break the monopoly of the Great Western railway in the area.
