Melksham's a great place for us to be based ... and for you to attend a course. It's close enough to London to be easy to reach, but far enough away to provide a quiet, cost effective training environment. It's a large enough town to have a good choice of eating and accommodation establishments, but it's small enough to avoid traffic and commuting problems.
THE TRAINING CENTRE AND HOTEL
Melksham traces it history back to the middle ages, and as recently as 200 years ago it was the largest town for many miles around. We're headquartered in a Georgian Spa building on the outskirts of the town, and our main training centre and hotel are an Edwardian building - just over 100 years old - that's set in its own grounds just five minutes walk from all the facilities of the town.
Our main training room, the "Wilts" will comfortably seat up to 16 delegates on a private course, but we limit numbers to just 8 on public courses so that we have plenty of time to look at each individual's needs. A second smaller training room - the "Berks" - is used for course that are run for just a handful of delelgates, and it's also used as a "breakout" room when we have bigger groups in.
We've got five large double / twin bedrooms, each with a large, flat screen TV (50 channels plus), large workdesk, fridge, laptop safe. All are en-suite and equipped to a level higher than you would expect to find in a typical hotel.
Our library, which is available to trainees throughout the course, includes some 600 books on the subjects on which we train as well as many other technical volumes. The books are there for your reference during a course, and we encourage you to use them in the evening too. Tea and coffee are always available.
We provide a superior continental breakfast for all hotel guests, and lunch for course delegates. sometimes we'll go out for lunch, more usually we eat in our dining room (the "Whitworth") or on warm summer days outside on the patio. Food varies from Chinese and Indian through Pizza to a cold buffet - we take a vote of trainees and cater to suit.
And - throughout Well House Manor - you'll find network points and a wireless internet connection that you're welcome to use during the course, during the evening ... or even at the weekend if you're visiting us to see Wiltshire.
GETTING TO MELKSHAM
Melksham's a few miles off the M4 motorway, and it has a fast train service too. Leave London at 17:30 the day before your course begins, change at Swidndon, and you'll be in Melksham for 19:08. Let us know if you're arriving on this train for your course, and we'll collect you from the station.
Courses start at 09:00 each day, and run through to 17:00. We usually finish a few minutes early on the last day so that our delegates can catch connections and make it home that night if they wish.
If you fly in to Bristol airport the evening before your course, we'll arrange a taxi to collect you from there - connections from Dublin, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Paris, Amsterdam and many other cities.
WHAT TO DO IN MELKSHAM
We've a good range of places to eat in Melksham; as well as the inevitable McDonald's, we have a wide range of pubs and restaurants (including French and Indian), and also takeaways where the range is as wide as Fish and chips to Caribbean, and Thai to Pizza. There's a swimming pool and a leisure centre in the town, and cinemas in Bath, Devizes and Chippenham, all of which can be reached by bus in the evening.
