The train Service from London to Bristol calls at Chippenham regularly throughout the day. The service from Swindon to Westbury and on to Southampton (via Melksham and Trowbridge) calls 5 times a day in each direction (slightly less at weekends) but is threatened with severe curtailment next year.

The Oxford to Bristol service (via Swindon and Bath) used to call, but this was withdrawn in 2003. The train service to Calne was lost many years ago; there's a bus available from the far end of the town.
