For 2023 - we are now fully retired from IT training.
We have made many, many friends over 25 years of teaching about Python, Tcl, Perl, PHP, Lua, Java, C and C++ - and MySQL, Linux and Solaris/SunOS too. Our training notes are now very much out of date, but due to upward compatability most of our examples remain operational and even relevant ad you are welcome to make us if them "as seen" and at your own risk.
Lisa and I (Graham) now live in what was our training centre in Melksham - happy to meet with former delegates here - but do check ahead before coming round. We are far from inactive - rather, enjoying the times that we are retired but still healthy enough in mind and body to be active!
I am also active in many other area and still look after a lot of web sites - you can find an index ((here))
Python, PHP, Ruby, C, Lua, etc ... course prices held for the rest of 2014
Prices HELD again ;-) ... current pricing for training courses will remain unchanged for the rest of 2014, baring VAT rate changes and rampant inflation! £350.00 for the first day on a public course, plus £250.00 for each subsequent day. Add £60.00 if you want a room to stay overnight, and breakfast. Public course prices include
training, use of our equipment throughout the course, teas, coffees, lunch, parking, internet access, advise before and after course (yes, you can get in touch days, weeks, or moths later), complimentary pickup from the station the night before your course starts, etc. The only extra you'll need will be an evening meal, and there are plenty
of choices within walking distance.
Price isn't everything. • It's the tutor's knowledge. • It's his skill in presenting. • It's the group size. • It's having the right material to present. • It's the tutor being able to answer questions. • It's about the course being heavy on real content and light on sales pitch. • It's about the course teaching good practise as well as technical methods. • It's a quiet, well designed training room that's fitted out for purpose. • It's in the notes, support and web site resources. • It's in the knowledge than once you've booked, your course will
run. • It's in the abiity to come back for an extra day or two or specialist more advanced training. • It's being able to stay away and sleep soundly, yet keep well in touch with home and office. • It's having a venue that's within easy reach, and at the sam etime takes you away from the hussle and bustle and lets you concentrate on learning. • And as you learn, it's about your tutor's availability to guide you along - assist in your exrcises and see how they relate to your own need, without assisting so much that he does the whole job for you! We believe we have thought all these things through and have them right on our public courses.
Courses in ... Perl; Python; PHP; Ruby; Tcl; Lua; C; C++ ... in each of those languages we offer at least
a "Learning to program in xxx" course for newcomers to programing and
a "xxx programming" course for those with prior programming experience in another language. On subjects like Perl, Python, PHP, Ruby and Tcl we also offer more specialised / advanced / add on courses. Follow links to all the various subjects from [our home page]
Do you have several people looking to learn the same subject at the same time? We'll reduce the price of the course for the second and each subsequent delegate that you book on the same course at the same time by £100.00 ... and if you have four or more delegates, we'll run a private course for you. That can be at our training centre in Melksham, or if you prefer at your own offices, for which we can bring all the equipment. For larger groups, it's sensible for us to come to you - that's just one person travelling rather than anything from 4 to 14. And private courses can be tailored to suit your exact needs too, perhaps leaving out a few modules and adding in some extras to make the course very specific for you. Private courses such as this account for around a half of our business - pricing is based on whether you come to us or vice versa, the number of delegates, the number of days, and if we travel out to you, the distance we have to travel. See [here]
for general information on private courses, and a calculator which lets you enter your postcode (UK), County (Ireland), country ... for an idea of the price. (written 2014-03-08)
