A Happy Christmas, everyone. Now that we've moved on from the "Children" to the "Grand Children" phase of life, Christmas has moved on too. Our own kids are playing hopscotch from one set of Grand-s and in-Laws to the next and juggling with the political decisions of who to join for Christmas lunch, and who to go to on Boxing Day. They all came here yesterday - and we had our Christmas Dinner on Christmas Eve and it really felt like Christmas day - complete with the traditional eating too much and falling asleep early. Lovely time had by all, and we "got" them early before they we're Christmassed out.

So - what of Christmas day? An early rise; Children always get up early on Christmas Day, but dogs get up early every day. Billy and Gypsy both popped out for a natural break at about 5, and then as it got light we went our for a walk in the fields behind us.


Early in the day, just after sunrise, there's a beautiful light and shadows are long. Lisa, Graham and Billy stop to admire the view and take a photo.


A well worn path lead us towards the new houses of East Melksham, celebrating their first Christmas


... but there remains plenty of wide open countryside towards Sandridge Hill.


As we get back toward home, Gypsy wanders off ahead a little


While Billy, though he runs great circles around in the fields, comes back to Lisa to check that she's still with us from time to time.


The hedgerow backing on to The Spa is a favorite haunt of Gypsy, and Billy is learning about all the interesting smells there are there too.


But now we're back home for much of the day - here for friends to come round and see us. Grandad will be over for Lunch, Lisa around all day, Dad will be on checkins this afternoon (and if we're very good he may take us "with"
