For 2023 (and 2024 ...) - we are now fully retired from IT training.
We have made many, many friends over 25 years of teaching about Python, Tcl, Perl, PHP, Lua, Java, C and C++ - and MySQL, Linux and Solaris/SunOS too. Our training notes are now very much out of date, but due to upward compatability most of our examples remain operational and even relevant ad you are welcome to make us if them "as seen" and at your own risk.

Lisa and I (Graham) now live in what was our training centre in Melksham - happy to meet with former delegates here - but do check ahead before coming round. We are far from inactive - rather, enjoying the times that we are retired but still healthy enough in mind and body to be active!

I am also active in many other area and still look after a lot of web sites - you can find an index ((here))
Running a course ... what if the tutor isn't well?

Two days of a streaming cold ... and I've been sleeping and drinking (hot soft drinks!) about twice as much as usual. The extra sleep has cost blogging time ... but more important to get the customer service right for the people who immediately staying or I am training.

An interesting question, though, early this morning. Towards the end of a rough night, should I "pull the plug" on the course I really wasn't feeling confident of giving well, or should i carry on? Decision - carry on, but make it clear that I was prepared to postpone and re-run / complete later if it wasn't working right. Verdict on the decision - that it was right. Somehow I found an inner strength, did a good course and I'm on the road to recovery - a short blog here and a longer one to follow tomorrow. And if I had postponed? This was a site on a customer course, and it turned out that delegates had been traveling through the night to reach the Bristol venue.

We have a "no cancellation" policy on ourselves - because we strongly disagree with other training companies who cancel course with confirmed bookings because they don't have enough bookings, or a bigger fish is offered for their tutor. And I'm proud to have started every single course in the last 15 year. I do know that the perfect score may be broken at some point - I will not give a course that's going to be less than excellent, nor risk life or limb to make one happen. But these are rare, rare possibilities.
