The Land of the Black Labrador  From yesterday ... a couple of pictures from a visit to the "Land of the Black Labrador" - also known as Henley-on-Thames. Planning a day out ... we had considered going down to Weymouth but thinking of the crowds, the heat, the ban on dogs on much of the beach and so forth decided on a more gentle day - and a more interesting journey - to see somewhere that I've never really looked around before, and perhaps take a walk on the Thames Path.A lovely place - a great afternoon (by the time we got there!) walk alongside the river down to Shiplake - or rather to the outskirts of Shiplake, where the path goes away from the river, giving way to some magnificent houses in the trees which then get the prime waterfront positions. Security gates, cameras and all the rest of it - I expect the people there earn more in a week than I do in a year, but I don't envy them the maintainance.  Henley is also all about boats - and there were some beautifully restored historic examples in use; we skipped the museum (though, being Henley, I suspect black labs would have been welcome!) and watched them in use on the water, along with the more modern.
