If they're cooked, and in not too big a quantity, yes (s)he can.

We were sitting in front of the TV last night, watching a stream of high ranking politicians offering themselves for sale in a sting operations set up by a TV channel, and Gypsy came over and nuzzled us. We had just finished fish and chips - or rather filled up, and left a handful of chips; should we let her have one or two? But something in my mind thought "I seem to recall reading about a problem there". Well - that's lead me to a bit of research which came up with this list of cautions:
# Chocolate
# Onions and garlic
# Macadamia nuts
# Avocado and Persimmon
# Pear pips, the kernels of plums, peaches and apricots, apple core pips
# Potato peelings and green looking potatoes
# Rhubarb leaves
# Alcohol, hops and yeast dough
# Coffee grounds, beans & tea
# Tomato leaves & stems and Broccoli
# Raisins and grapes
# Xylitol (sweetener often found in sugar-free gum)
# Baby food, Cat Food
# Raw eggs, raw fish, milk and dairy products
# Human vitamin supplements and large quantities of liver
# Salt and sugary food
# Cooked bones, corn cobs, string (physical risks)
# Cigarettes, tobacco, marijuana, cigars
# Moldy/spoiled foods and table scraps
A lot of people write about pets and dogs, and with authority - but that's my list for what it's worth. There may be things missing (let me know if you spot any) and some of the things I've listed are only "beware in large quantities". Some are disputed; some sources advocate a small quantity of milk, for example. And some are "duh - obvious" ... who would feed their dog moldy food that they think might give
them food poisoning, or something with string?

What are my thoughts on the politicians? I'm getting weary.
Mr Byers, a former transport secretary, was filmed saying he was like a "cab for hire" who would work for up to [c2]ã5,000 a day and claimed to have saved millions of pounds for National Express who wanted to get out of its East Coast mainline franchise ... Mr Byers said later he had overstated his case and had never lobbied ministers. [Quoting BBC source]
So that later "overstatement" makes the earlier comments OK does it? This is a man who took some major public transport decisions that effect us to this day. And I think - before I fell asleep - that I saw another former transport secretary "in the frame". Of course, there are an awful lot of former transport secretaries - it seems to have been a revolving door job under this government.
