Ruby is a modern, object oriented scripting language
which takes a
pragramtic or practical approach to coding rather than
a theoretical one. You'll find it has much of the richness of Perl (from which
it inherits many features), and - when used as "Ruby on Rails" - all the
easy integration for web use that PHP provides. But it can do much, much
more than that too.
At
Well House Consultants, we run a 2 day
public course for delegates who are already programmers in another language, to
give them a good grounding on the fundamentals of Ruby and a brief introduction
to Rails. We find that most delegates who want to learn about Ruby are
already programmers in other languages, so we're not offering a public
"learning to program in Ruby"; if you need this, please get in touch as
we may be able to offer one or two ideas.
If you've a group of three or more delegates who wish to learn Ruby
at the same time, a
Specially Run Courses course can be arranged, and for larger groups we
can also run a
Private Courses course at your offices. Such courses are tailored to
meet your requirements - for example, we are able to provide a private
course for newcomers to programming, and we can extend the coverage of
topics such as Rails beyond that on the public course. Please contact us
to discuss the detail of what you need.
Ruby was written Yukihiro Matsumoto ("Matz"), and he remains vey much involved with the language. You can read about him and link to downloads from
