Welcome to Well House Consultants' website. We offer training courses in a variety of Open Source subjects, including Ruby, which is the technology that we're covering on this page. Please follow one of the links at the top of the page if you're looking for another of our technologies.
Courses run at our own training centre in Melksham, Wiltshire, England. Because many of our subjects are niche, we also provide overnight accommodation in our own hotel rooms within our training centre, and you may book the course and accommodation as a single package.
We run public courses, each of which is scheduled to run from 3 to 9 times per year, and on which we accept bookings from different organisations and individuals who wish to learn about Ruby following our published agenda. Public courses are all written by ourselves, lead by our own tutor, and limited to just eight delegates per course so that the tutor has plenty of time to answer any questions that arise, and provide personal support during practical sessions.
We also run private courses for individual companies / organisations. Private courses are scheduled to suit our client's needs, and can run at our training centre or at customer premises almost anywhere in the world. Because our course materials are written by ourselves and modular, we can tailor private courses to suit our client's needs.
Ruby is a modern, object oriented scripting language
which takes a
pragramtic or practical approach to coding rather than
a theoretical one. You'll find it has much of the richness of Perl (from which
it inherits many features), and - when used as "Ruby on Rails" - all the
easy integration for web use that PHP provides. But it can do much, much
more than that too.
At
Well House Consultants, we run:
• a
4 day
Learning to Program in Ruby course for delegates who are new
to computer programming, to give them a grounding in the
fundamentals of programming and how they're applied to Ruby.
• a
3 day
public Ruby course for delegates who are already experienced
programmers in another language, to give them a good grounding on
the fundamentals of Ruby.
• a one day
Ruby
on Rails training course as an extension to our Learning to Program
in Ruby and Ruby Programing courses for those delegates who will be
using Ruby within the Ruby on Rails Framework.
• a
1 day
public Regular Expression course for delegates who are already
familiar with Ruby, but want to learn more about Regular Expressions
and how they're used
If you've a group of three or more delegates who wish to learn Ruby
at the same time, a
Specially Run Courses course can be arranged, and for larger groups we
can also run a
Private Courses course at your offices. Such courses are tailored to
meet your requirements - for example, we are able to provide a private
course for newcomers to programming, and we can extend the coverage of
topics such as Rails beyond that on the public course. Please contact us
to discuss the detail of what you need.
Ruby was written Yukihiro Matsumoto ("Matz"), and he remains very much involved with the language. You can read about him and link to downloads from
