We will run on site courses at your offices anywhere in the United States.
We ask you to provide a suitable room for the training,
equipped with table and chairs for each participant.
We also ask you to provide one networked PC per trainee.
If you're short of space at your offices, we're quite
happy to train at a nearby hotel or other convenient location.
... or why not let us run a private course at our own
purpose fitted training centre? Just 90 minutes by train from
London, we have our own hotel - Well
House Manor - and your team can concentrate on learning, away from the
hussle and bustle of the office.
We limit our class size to ensure that
each student has plenty of access to the tutor during practicals, and to
ensure there's plenty of scope for questions and answers from everyone
during lecture sessions. Please note that an ideal maximum is 12
trainees on any course - however, we do appreciate that if you have
a just over 12 trainees, and are limited by a budget, one course for
15 might be the only practical way to train you staff.
This course is taught in English.
You can choose your own hours. We
would normally start at 09:45 on the first day and 09:00 on subsequent
days, and run formally until 17:00 each day.
Course content on private courses is tailored to meet the
needs of the student(s) being trained. We'll discuss your exact
requirement with you, starting when you make your initial enquiry,
and provide a course and training notes covering modules which
are relevant to you.
All trainees are provided with a full set of course notes
which cover the topics on their course. These notes are written
with future use in mind - they include everything you'd expect in
a book such as full explanations (no tables of short bullet points!),
complete program examples (not just code snippets) and full lists of
contents and indexes.
For courses in the UK and elsewhere in Europe, every trainee
has exclusive use of one of our laptop computers for the duration of the course.
We'll also bring servers as appropriate, allowing full access to large amounts of
reference material, and other facilities. There is no need for you to provide
any computer hardware, nor any connection to your own network or the internet.
However ... these days, many delegates have their own / work laptops with
the target language already installed, and they mey prefer to use these during
class. That's fine with us, and if we know ahead of time we can offer a reduction
of 20 pounds per delegate per day if we don't have to carry all these systems.
For courses in the USA, we bring our servers as appropriate and we ask you to
provide internet access for each trainee for the duration of the course so that
they can make use of our systems from your offices.
Most of our laptop computers can run (trainee's choice) either
Linux or MicroSoft Windows, and has a full set
of tools installed under both. We also have some Apple Mac OS X machines available.
For programming courses, a selection
of editors is available - it's probable that there will be a familiar
editor to hand, but if not we do have an easy "point and click" editor.
We normally train using the latest stable version of the subject
software. Where there are significant changes from a still-common previous
version, we'll have that previous version available on our server, and
we're likely to have upcoming alpha and beta releases to hand as well.
Having access to the Internet is a plus, but it's not necessary for the running of the course when at your site. The tutor brings a server and networking for an inter-class intranet where applicable, and mobile internet that works at most business premises in the UK.
If you need to contact the tutor, and he is not with you at the time (for instance, he is on the road coming to your offices, or he is at his hotel room), please contact our administrator (Lisa) on 01144 1225 708225, who will know how to reach him.
Please feel free to ask your tutor if you have any special requests or concerns. More often than not we can come up with a solution.
If accommodation is needed for the tutor, arrangements will be made by our office. This price is already included in the travel expense.
For courses being given in the UK and throughout Europe, the tutor will travel by train or drive a car, as he will be carrying full kit for the course that is in excess of airline baggage allowances. A mileage is included in the travel expense to cover this (based on car running costs and standard class rail travel).
If the tutor is giving a course in a location that requires a flight due to distance, it is recommended you provide the computers for the students.

ALTERATIONS
You may cancel your private course booking more than two weeks before the
course is due to start at a charge of 10% of the course fee. If we receive a cancellation
less than 14 days before the course is due to start, we make a
charge of 25% of the course fee. If you don't contact us
prior to the day the course is due to start, we'll charge you
50% of the course fees, plus any travel and accommodation
expenses we have incurred at our full standard rate.
If unforeseen circumstances arise that meant you need to postpone or
cancel, please do let us know as soon as you can. Although a postponement
is technically a cancellation and a rebooking, we'll do our
best to accommodate your change. We value your company's business,
and we may waive cancellation fees if the original booking
was made in good faith.
You may vary the number of trainees that you wish to attend a private
course up to three working days before the course is due to start,
and substitute delegates at any time prior to the start of a course,
without penalty. (Do note that adding or removing delegates will
affect the price, though).
