Well House Consultants offer training courses in a variety of Open Source programming languages. Public courses will be run at our headquarters in Melksham, Wiltshire. Courses tailored to suit individual client needs can be run at your site. Typically we have good availability if you book three months in advance; occasionally we have short notice availability too, so please do ask!
Courses are all written by ourselves, and lead by our own tutor. We recommend that you limit courses to fifteen delegates so that the tutor has plenty of time to answer any questions that arise, and provide personal support during practical sessions.
Java itself if a programming language. But it's
more than than because Java programs run in a "virtual machine" with
which a whole load of other add-ons ("technologies") are associated.
At
Well House Consultants, we have run
a variety of public Java courses from as early as 1996, and a wide
range of private courses. We currently offer the following public course:
•
Learning to Program in Java for
newcomers to programming with no (or little) prior programming experience.
Java has a wide variety of applications, and this course is tailored towards
delegates who will be writing and maintaining code for web site use.
•
Java Bootcamp for experienced
programmers who are converting to Java. This course is tailored towards
delegates who will be maintaining and writing server side code (JSPs and
Servlets) rather than using Java for Applets or programmable devices.
•
Deploying Apache httpd
and Tomcat course - 2 days - which overs the installation, setup
and integration of these two servers through various connectors. This
course is ideal for system administrators who'll be looking after
systems running Java applications (servlets or JSPs) under Tomcat.
If you have a group of delegates who require Java training, we can offer
a wider variety private courses based on the following agendae above,
or on
Java Programming for the
Web which adds in depth server side programming (servlets, JSPs,
interfacing to databases etc) to the content.
For groups of Administrators who are NOT familiar with Linux but will
be deploying Java applications under that operating system, we also
offer a combined private
Deploying Java
applications on Linux and Unix program.
Our basic Java training notes are available for
free download if
you would like to follow these courses in your own time
Java was written and maintained by Sun Microsystems. Oracle has now purchased Sun,
and continues to offer the Java technology. Java itself is now
also available Open Source.
Tomcat and httpd are also Open Source projects which are
maintained and downloaded via the
Apache Software Foundation.
