For 2023 (and 2024 ...) - we are now fully retired from IT training.
We have made many, many friends over 25 years of teaching about Python, Tcl, Perl, PHP, Lua, Java, C and C++ - and MySQL, Linux and Solaris/SunOS too. Our training notes are now very much out of date, but due to upward compatability most of our examples remain operational and even relevant ad you are welcome to make us if them "as seen" and at your own risk.

Lisa and I (Graham) now live in what was our training centre in Melksham - happy to meet with former delegates here - but do check ahead before coming round. We are far from inactive - rather, enjoying the times that we are retired but still healthy enough in mind and body to be active!

I am also active in many other area and still look after a lot of web sites - you can find an index ((here))

Melksham Campus
Resources from the web site of Well House Consultants on the subject of Melksham Campus. We provide open source training course and business hotel accommodation in Melksham, Wiltshire, England

Background
Wiltshire Council is to replace around 8 separate facilities in the town with a combined campus. Originally, the front runner site was an are beside the Melksham Oak school at Woolmore Farm, but after local inputs (some of which got very passionate), Wiltshire Council purchased Melksham House from Cooper Tires and that's where the Campus should open in 2014. This page is a "blog track" for items and articles which I write on the Campus.

4423Campus - about the logos / way marks you have been choosing from
The branding and waymarking of the new community campus in Melksham is going to be one of its headlines and something that will set its enduring memory into the future. And it's because of that important role that a subgroup of the Community Opererations Board - the COB - looked at the whole look and ...

Here are six potential logo / signs to be used for wayfinding and branding the Melksham Campus. Those who have been involved in the ...

4311Melksham Campus - how is it going - October 2014
Last year, I was talking a lot about the Melksham Campus, with meetings most weeks, lots of community participation and a great deal of feedback to make sure that the look and feel, the transport and access, and the mix for various groups was all understood and agreed (or rather was compromised to make ...

4103Questions from children about Melksham Campus
Children ask us the most challenging of questions... here are some addressed to the chair of the "Melksham SCOB" - in other words to chap who's spearheading much of the Melksham Campus thought locally. 1) When are facilities being moved and will they stay the same? Will any be added to or taken away? 2) ...

4048Art, Catering, Transport - Melksham Campus Elements - reaching local experts
At last Tuesday's Chamber of Commerce meeting, I was robustly questioned on some elements of the Campus, due to my role on the Shadow Community Operations Board. Some of the questions had to be answered with "don't know"; for example, the Chamber meeting was a day before we met with the representatives ...

3901How much parking should there be at Melksham Campus?
These are personal views ... and should not be taken as representing the view of any organisation of which I'm a member! Principles: 1. Anyone who wishes to drive to attend an activity at the Campus should be able to do so, and should be able to park within a distance that's reasonable for them to ...

3888What a difference a year made - Melksham Campus
Last year, an Area Board meeting in Melksham, the Campus project was pushed ahead with the majority of the councillors in support, but a vocal minority, and much of the public, seriously concerned that a campus on the outskirts of Melksham wasn't right for certain of the facilities. It's probably fair ...

"Not everyone has a computer" ... written, by hand, on a notice about the Melksham Campus which gave the URL of the website as a source of further information. 3518Melksham House / Melksham Campus - Seniors Input Sought
I ate lunch at Melksham House yesterday - an excellent traditional "meat and 2 veg" meal, at a very affordable price, and clearly very popular - there were perhaps 30 or 40 people eating, most of them fairly clearly retired and out meeting with their friends at their social centre. Truly, Melksham ...

3481Some thoughts in answer to some Melksham Campus questions
I was triggered into writing this article by a thread on "Melksham People" - link [here] to open and read that thread in a new frame. I'm answering independently of that thread as my answer may turn out to be a long one, easier to read in a wider format and with pictures. Last Monday, Sasha Heseltine ...

3325The Olympic Torch, and Melksham House
The Olympic Torch is being carried by 8000 people ... and without any particular one of them, it wouldn't reach its destination. If you look amongst the 8000, I'm sure you'll find some people who wouldn't get on with all 7999 of the others, but it's a team effort. Yesterday afternoon, Wiltshire Council ...
