Why two langauges?

If you're going on holiday to ... [insert place] Brazil ... Amsterdam ... Disney, Orlando ... you will tell your friends and colleagues that you're flying. But in practise there will be another transport link at both ends of your journey.

And so it is with your web application - you're looking at Java for the aircraft - a lot of setup involved, takes lots of people all at the same time and once it's running, it's fast! The idea of a private plane for everyone, and landing strips at the bottom of your garden and outside the destination hotel is absurd.

For a more local holiday, you might drive all the way (i.e. no service layer) and indeed I HAVE travelled overland as far as southern Germany and Norway.
