For 2021 - online Python 3 training - see ((here)).

Our plans were to retire in summer 2020 and see the world, but Coronavirus has lead us into a lot of lockdown programming in Python 3 and PHP 7.
We can now offer tailored online training - small groups, real tutors - works really well for groups of 4 to 14 delegates. Anywhere in the world; course language English.

Please ask about private 'maintenance' training for Python 2, Tcl, Perl, PHP, Lua, etc.

4227Happy Christmas from the Well House Manor team
A very happy Christmas from the Well House Manor team. We've enjoyed having you stay with us in 2013 and look forward to seeing you again in 2014.                 Pictures by Rachel, for our company Christmas meal - a great evening at the Greyhound in ...
4004Annual Accounts - a big job for a small business
Paperwork and Company Accounts ... Lisa's been working hard and the files have gone to the accountants. I dropped them off there earlier this week, a box so heavy that the receptionist called for a more muscular colleague to take them where they had to go. The amount of admin and bookkeeping, the ...
3988Three cheers for the staff at Well House Manor
I'm not usually one for Company Christmas Dinners, but the one we had in December was the exception, and it's made not by the food, not by the place, not by the season ... it's made by the people. Truely, we have an exceptional team at Well House Manor who are really great to work with. Yesterday, ...
3871On getting noticed for the right reasons when you ask about job availability
If someone takes the trouble to get in touch and ask about working for Well House Consultants, I'll take the trouble to reply to them. But much more often than not, the answer has to be "no, sorry ..."; we're a small and tight team, and we've learned to become a well oiled machine which hasn't needed ...
3425Our National Autograss Champion, from Melksham
Congratulation to Sarah, one of our key team members, in regaining the National Autograss Racing Championship (for class 2 vehicles) at Hereford last weekend. Pictured here holding a rather large cup, a certificate, and goodness knows what else. Sarah's been dedicated to the sport for a number of ...
3312Are you cheerful, reliable and available on Saturday mornings?
At Well House Manor, we've now got 3 x full time staff ... and we run 2 shifts every day. So that's 14 shifts to run, with 15 sets of 8 hours to cover them. Sufficient, right? Well - it can be sufficient in the Winter, but in the holiday and activity season of the summer, it doesn't give us a depth ...
3201A change to the Well House team - thank you and good luck, Chris
Family, friends and regular customers may know that Chris, who's worked for us for a number of years at Well House Manor, was away for a considerable period at the end of last year. Chris was admitted to hospital in August - paraphrasing Monopoly "Go directly to Hospital. Do not complete your shift. ...
2952Concluding the interview process
One of the most delightful parts of my job (though it's very rare) is to get in touch with people and say "yes - please do come and work for/with us" - and I'm doing some of that this afternoon. One of the toughest parts is getting in touch with candidates who we've seen, but then decided that they ...
2938An opportunity to join our team!
This article was written on 28th August 2010 ... this update is 2 weeks later, 9th September 2010, 8 p.m. Applications have just closed for these roles. I will be reviewing / deciding over the next couple of days, and letting everyone who's been in touch know ... and (soon) introducing new member on ...
2946Level playing fields, job vacancies, lemons and peaches
Keeping a level playing field, and keeping personal data confidential, preclude me from writing more than a few generalities about some of the interesting way things unfolded when I posted up a week ago that we're looking for help - a.k.a. a sort of job vacancy. Over the past few days, I've heard from ...
1585Well House Consultants / Manor - Staff
This Good Friday morning [21st March 2008], I was serving breakfasts at 7 a.m. - truly the hotel business runs at all hours of the day and night, and 365 days a year (yes we did have breakfasts to serve and guests to check in on Christmas day!) And so we need - and have - a strong team to cover 7 mornings ...
2924Job applicants - wondering why they apply
Quoting out of context is rather naughty ... but the comment " I’m not sure why some people apply for a position that seems ill suited to them ..." from another blogger - [here] got me thinking. The cynic in me suggests answers of "So they can tell the benefit folks that they HAVE applied for ...
1065Graham Ellis - an Introduction
Sharing an introduction I made elsewhere - I'm not just an IT trainer - I do have other interests! Hi, I'm Graham Ellis. I've been in the "IT" industry for 30+ years, and I live in Melksham, Wiltshire. I run specialist training courses here and many of my customers (or until last December, they came) ...
2037The Interview and The Lift
The Interview was for a pressure position - European Software Support Specialist for an American product - working for the American manufacturer and based at their single European office in Basingstoke, from where they co-ordinate their distribution and dealership network through Europe. It went well ...
2027Who sticks by you in the snow?
There are those businesses who will go out of their way to continue to provide a the best service they can in the inclement weather, and there are those who will abandon even their regular customers in the snow - "fair weather friends". It's been interesting to learn who falls into which group this ...
2021Short health and safety course
We're a training company, and we believe in getting our staff trained. Today, being a quiet day, Chris and Sharon attended a Health and Safety course run by Switch Training in Malmesbury. Chris called in shortly before the start to confirm that he had found the place ... and said he would let me know ...
1002Meet the neighbours
Last night, we held our 'neighbours reception' at Well House Manor. There are 8 adjoining properties, another half dozen or so facing us across the road and some others very close by. Our place would probably have been replaced by 23 dwelling units but for their effective campaigns against planning ...
1927Team changes at Well House - looking forward
When people leave a job where they were in a customer facing role, it's usual for them to quietly disappear from the scene with as little as possible said to the customers. I can understand why that's the convention, but I'm going to do rather the opposite here and write a little piece to say "Thank ...
895Welcome, Martin
Monday morning saw me at 'The Manor' before 6 O'clock ... to welcome Martin onto our team. We met Martin soon after we started the process of puchasing "The Old Manor" as it then was ... he had just moved to the Melksham area a month or two earlier and was settling into his first job here. But you know ...

1083Behind the scenes
Behind every successful course, conference or hotel stay there's a team of people working to make it that success. Here's a few pictures of our "behind the scenes" team. Christine prepares to serve for a day conference. Martin prepares the "Wilts" - our larger conference room - before the start ...
972Both one team and two
Last night ... a great night was had by all at the skittle evening we arranged at Melksham House - the Cooper Avon sports and social club here in Melksham.
