For 2023 - we are now fully retired from IT training.
We have made many, many friends over 25 years of teaching about Python, Tcl, Perl, PHP, Lua, Java, C and C++ - and MySQL, Linux and Solaris/SunOS too. Our training notes are now very much out of date, but due to upward compatability most of our examples remain operational and even relevant ad you are welcome to make us if them "as seen" and at your own risk.

Lisa and I (Graham) now live in what was our training centre in Melksham - happy to meet with former delegates here - but do check ahead before coming round. We are far from inactive - rather, enjoying the times that we are retired but still healthy enough in mind and body to be active!

I am also active in many other area and still look after a lot of web sites - you can find an index ((here))

4653Coats of arms - towns and authorities in Wiltshire
Wiltshire has a rich history, illustrated and celebrated in the coats of arms of the various towns and authorities in the area. These coats of arms shown in this post are (I consider) to be in the public domain. However, they remain the property of the body to whom they were granted, and their reproduction ...
4622Frosty morning, beauty of Wiltshire
Cold mornings have come at long last - and with it a beauty. We live in a beautiful county too, so I'm going to share three pictures of my trip from Melksham through the Wylye Valley to Salisbury.     ...
3723Bank Holiday Monday, so it was pouring with rain.
We have visitors staying at the hotel who arrived over the weekend from China, and wanted to see Stonehenge today. It's when you get a request like that that you realise just how impractical this is - especially on a bank holiday - by public transport. So I ran them over to Stonehenge, which I've seen ...
3709Queen to visit eight Wiltshire areas - will she know what she misses in the other 13 areas?
I read this tweet a few minutes ago ... Wiltshire Council @wiltscouncil Queen to visit Amesbury, Westbury, Pewsey, Malmesbury, Devizes, Marlborough, S Wilts & Swindon jousting tents on May 1 #wiltsjubilee And indeed re-tweeted. This is good news for 7 areas. And - at first glance - disappointing ...
3642Wiltshire Travel Times - Chippenham, Trowbridge, Salisbury and other places too
The three major largest urban areas in Wiltshire are Salisbury (a city in the south of the county), Trowbridge (the county town, in the west of the county) and Chippenham (in the north of the county). All are part of the Wiltshire Unitary Authority area, with many facilities (public and private) available ...
2473Exploring Old Railways
I've got a certain inquisitiveness about Industrial Archeology, an interest in transport with something of a current specialization in rail - so it's no surprise that I'll spot odd railway-like structures dotted around the countryside and wonder "what is/ was that?". The old water tower at Druid's Lodge ...
2453Dark to dark
I know that autumn is well here when I set out in the dark for a customer site at the start of the day ... and by the time I get to my hotel in the evening, it's dark as well. But there's a beauty in the rising sun over Salisbury plain, and I'm lucky to have a camera that captures some of the atmosphere. Mists ...

1652Old Sarum airfield brings back fond memories
It must have been some 15 years ago that I flew with Dick (a retired flyer with rthe US military who had gone on to a distingued career managing their flight maintainance base and in civvy life) from Montgomery field in San Diego up to the back of the LA basin (I am trying hard to remember the place ...
1398Someone else's wedding
I haven't a clue who the happy couple are ... but we came across the wedding party when out yesterday - at the Old Mill, Harnham, Salisbury. A beautiful sunny day, and it was one of those occasions where a couple who are, perhaps, the most private of individuals normally are more than happy to be photographed ...
1128Avon Vale hunt at the Point to Point
The law which makes hunting with dogs illegal has now been in force for over a year, and controversy still rages. And I'm NOT going to get involved in the law, its rights, wrongs, and loopholes on "The Horse's Mouth". But I am going to share some pictures taken at Larkhill point to point races yesterday, ...
880Celebration circles
Ever since man wanted to praise, to memorialise or to celebrate, he's chosen the circle as one his favourite geometric forms. Stonehenge, just a short distance up the road from us, is the ancient form ... but there's many more modern forms too. The modern stone circle - rather a different form - ...
833Old Wardour Castle
OK ... so I've been playing with Photoshop with these pictures, taken yesterday at Old Wardour Castle, right down in the bottom left corner of Wiltshire.     There are more - not so processed - pictures here ...
325Gone Racing - Larkhill, Wiltshire
Yesterday evening, we went racing at Larkhill. Set high on Salisbury Plain behind a military camp down a dirt track, a glorious evening was had by all as we watched a very full card of seven races. Lisa and I chose the horse that we thought would win each race, but didn't bet. A strong countryside ...
