Ballooning from Devizes
A lovely day yesterday, with a gentle south easterly breeeze. On the green at Devizes as we drove through at the end of the day, a great red monster was taking shape - a hot air balloon ride.   First, an electric blower started the inflation and as the thing grew bigger, the gas burners were turned on; blasts of gas filled the ballow that moved from horizontal to vertical. And when the balloon was fully inflated and strong, the riders all climbed into the basket .... and off she went. I undertand that they were going to fly at a height of about 1000 feet for around an hour, travelling in the Melksham / Chippenham / Corsham directory - what a lovely way to spend a summer's evening.
