For 2023 (and 2024 ...) - we are now fully retired from IT training.
We have made many, many friends over 25 years of teaching about Python, Tcl, Perl, PHP, Lua, Java, C and C++ - and MySQL, Linux and Solaris/SunOS too. Our training notes are now very much out of date, but due to upward compatability most of our examples remain operational and even relevant ad you are welcome to make us if them "as seen" and at your own risk.

Lisa and I (Graham) now live in what was our training centre in Melksham - happy to meet with former delegates here - but do check ahead before coming round. We are far from inactive - rather, enjoying the times that we are retired but still healthy enough in mind and body to be active!

I am also active in many other area and still look after a lot of web sites - you can find an index ((here))
New trains for 2014 - Swindon to Westbury. Meetings Melksham, Swindon, Trowbridge, Chippenham and Westbury

On Tuesday, it was decided by Wiltshire Cabinet that the train service from Swindon to Westbury will be increased from 2 to 8 trains each way per day from December. This decision is based on analysis and groundwork by Wiltshire Council and First Great Western. with community input, and is funded for a build-up period from a central government grant.

New train services, which will run every day, will make a real difference to travel between Swindon and Chippenham, Melksham, and Trowbridge and Westbury. They will cut up to 45 minutes off daily commutes, bringing business visitors right into Melksham and Trowbridge in less than two hours from London, and providing a wide range of leisure opportunities from shopping and cinema to football, countryside and seaside.

To make best use of the new trains, the TransWilts Community Rail Partnership (TransWilts CRP) is setting up station groups at each station along the line to co-ordinate existing groups and help produce local travel plans and timetable sheets, distribute information, adopt station facilities, help new users and provide early feedback.

The first meeting will be held this Friday (25th October) at MELKSHAM Town Hall at 19:30, hosted by the Melksham Railway Development Group.

On Wednesday 6th November, please join us at the GW, Station Road, SWINDON at 18:30 (*).

On Thursday, 7th November, at The Rose and Crown, Stallard Street, TROWBRIDGE at 18:30 (*).

On Tuesday, 12th November we'll be at the Bridge Brasserie, New Road, CHIPPENHAM at 18:15 (*).

And on Friday, 15th November we'll be at the Railway Inn, WESTBURY, at 18:30, hosted by Westbury Trainwatch.

TransWilts CRP members will be attending at each location, which will include an update to bring everyone up to date on recent developments, and to look forward to 2014.

All are welcome to any meeting. Bring along your local knowledge for travel to and from the station, your ideas for leisure trips you would like to see us promote, and information about your favourite local attractions that people can come in by train to visit. And bring your questions, enthusiasm and willingness to help informing people, tidying the station, and providing our local feedback on making the very best of the new services.

Details of the TransWilts Community Rail Partnership can be found at http://www.twcrp.org.uk, follow us on twitter, join our group on Facebook, post on our forum. Email - info@twcrp.org.uk, phone 0845 459 0153.
