For 2023 (and 2024 ...) - we are now fully retired from IT training.
We have made many, many friends over 25 years of teaching about Python, Tcl, Perl, PHP, Lua, Java, C and C++ - and MySQL, Linux and Solaris/SunOS too. Our training notes are now very much out of date, but due to upward compatability most of our examples remain operational and even relevant ad you are welcome to make us if them "as seen" and at your own risk.

Lisa and I (Graham) now live in what was our training centre in Melksham - happy to meet with former delegates here - but do check ahead before coming round. We are far from inactive - rather, enjoying the times that we are retired but still healthy enough in mind and body to be active!

I am also active in many other area and still look after a lot of web sites - you can find an index ((here))
Geekmas 2012 - celebrating open source languages such as Perl, PHP and Python

STOP PRESS / 29th October Sadly, this weekend has turned out to have been a poor choice for many of our friends, and we've decided not to have a specific Geekmas weekend this year.

Past delegates are always welcome - VERY welcome to come and stay with us at Well House Manor - any weekend (but do check by email that I'll be around if you're bringing technical questions!). We'll offer you delegate rates too, and remember that delegate rates are per room not per person, so you can bring your partner too and enjoy Wiltshire together.

We've made a lot of special friends over our years of teaching open source at Well House Consultants, and we would love to see as many of you as can make it at our celebration of Geekmas, on Saturday and Sunday 10th and 11th November this year.

We're throwing open the doors of Well House Manor (metaphorically, that is, as the weather may be cold by then) on the Saturday morning, and we'll spend a weekend Perling, Pythoning and PHPing. We'll book the Refa for the evening - for past delegates to have nostalgic curry, and we'll have a traditional IT lunch of Pizza, and Coffee or Coke on the Sunday!

Agenda ... to be fixed nearer the time, but here are some of the things we may cover:
• Capturing Social Networking advantage in your PHP pages
• Tips and techniques with Twitter
• Perl 6 - waiting for Godot?
• Rasperry Pi, and Python
• An overview of writing apps for Apples (iPhone and iPad ones)
• High Tech - the Melksham Museum
And I would very much like to encourage you to come along and contribute

Attendance at the event is free. We'll split the bill at the Refa (don't worry - it's bring your own alcohol, so you won't be paying for someone else's bing), and Well House Consultants will stand for the lunches.

Hotel rooms available - at £72.00 per room per night - that's £144.00 for the two nights arriving on Friday 9th November and leaving on Sunday 11th November. We're timing the event so that you can arrive on the train at 19:11 (Friday) and leave on the 17:35 (Sunday) and we'll arrange lifts to the station.

Priority room booking on site at Well House Manor that weekend for past delegates - but all welcome; we'll have access to other rooms withing walking distance too. Phone in / email to book ... or use our booking engine [here]. Enter "Perl", "PHP" or "Python" as your course code!

Geekmas is a great weekend for those who've already done quite a bit of open source programming - if you're new to Open Source programming, take a look at our public courses which run throughout the year.

---OOO---

There's a long gap between the August Bank Holiday and Christmas, and we feel that Geeks (and everyone else) should have at least some fun during those four months ... Geekmas started in November 2004 ... it's not an annual event - it's something different that we do from time to time!
