For 2023 (and 2024 ...) - we are now fully retired from IT training.
We have made many, many friends over 25 years of teaching about Python, Tcl, Perl, PHP, Lua, Java, C and C++ - and MySQL, Linux and Solaris/SunOS too. Our training notes are now very much out of date, but due to upward compatability most of our examples remain operational and even relevant ad you are welcome to make us if them "as seen" and at your own risk.

Lisa and I (Graham) now live in what was our training centre in Melksham - happy to meet with former delegates here - but do check ahead before coming round. We are far from inactive - rather, enjoying the times that we are retired but still healthy enough in mind and body to be active!

I am also active in many other area and still look after a lot of web sites - you can find an index ((here))
Digital Champions think that Well House Manor is a champion venue!

Wiltshire has an Online future ... and Wiltshire Online is providing help for individuals and businesses to improve their connections, and their use of online facilities.

At Well House Manor, we're delighted to allow (no - I want to be more positive - we encourage) the county's Digital Champion volunteers to use our public access computers, or our WiFi if they and their clients have their own computers. All that we ask is that they buy a tea or a coffee as they might if they were using Starbucks, Cafe Nero, or Costa. (And, like the big chains, our coffee is made fresh, bean-to-cup and our pastries are baked on site!)

Jenny Wilcockson, project lead, write:

Hi Graham,

I know that over the past few weeks, several of Wiltshire Online's digital champion volunteers have been using the wifi and public access terminal at Well House Manor. The reports I've had from the volunteers have been very positive, with people praising both the venue and the staff.

I'm very grateful to you for opening your doors to us. There's a real shortage of quality wifi-enabled venues in Melksham and I'm not sure what we'd do without you. Please pass on my thanks to your staff too.

Kind regards,

Digital Literacy Coordinator

I'm very proud of our staff. I'm delighted that our facilities are helping. And I look forward to seeing many more digital champions and their clients.

Well House Manor is open every day for teas, coffees, pastries, etc.. We have free parking, and you don't have to be a digital champion to stop in here - in fact, you can read the paper and sit in the lounge without even going online if you like. Tea's £1.50 per pot, Coffee is £1.50 per large mug. Car parking here is free.

We have even more to offer from next month too.

Starting on 6th May, we'll be into our Summer season of serving strawberry cream teas. Building on a successful first year in 2011, we'll be offering a traditional cream tea, indoors or out (if the weather is suitable). We use local produce wherever possible, and this year we'll be baking our own scone here at Well House Manor.

At 11 a.m. on 12th May, The Well House Collection - a branch of the Museum of Melksham - opens at Well House Manor. [link]. Our first exhibit will cover the History of Transportation, starting with stagecoaches, and to include the Wilts & Berks Canal, Melksham Train Station and some enterprising manufacturers and carriers. Entry to the museum is free of charge.

The Museum, and the cream teas in the Whitworth Room, will be open every afternoon. For a diary of other events in and around Melksham, see the full Melksham Diary on the Chamber of Commerce web site.
