For 2023 (and 2024 ...) - we are now fully retired from IT training.
We have made many, many friends over 25 years of teaching about Python, Tcl, Perl, PHP, Lua, Java, C and C++ - and MySQL, Linux and Solaris/SunOS too. Our training notes are now very much out of date, but due to upward compatability most of our examples remain operational and even relevant ad you are welcome to make us if them "as seen" and at your own risk.

Lisa and I (Graham) now live in what was our training centre in Melksham - happy to meet with former delegates here - but do check ahead before coming round. We are far from inactive - rather, enjoying the times that we are retired but still healthy enough in mind and body to be active!

I am also active in many other area and still look after a lot of web sites - you can find an index ((here))
Well House - the pictures

Wow - Google have done it again. I was surprised when I did an "image search" a few days ago to get a new, clean, effective display of images when I was looking for some stock art with which to illustrate a previous article. Impressed, yes, but of course I asked "what do we look like" and so I searched for Well House Consultants and had a quick scan through the images that were presented to me ...

[larger] Many pictures of Well House Manor, together with some local Melksham shots and others nearby at places like Malmesbury and Devizes, Calne and Lacock. Also my "classic" Icelandic sheep picture that's on my name badge and a couple of distant ones such as Clevedon and Carlisle!

[larger] Our advert from the local paper, adverts for our networking events, and a spoof "sea fishing trip" that one of the cafes was offering. And plenty more pictures of Well House Manor, and Melksham, and the tourist information centre too. And I'm proud enough of all of these pictures to reproduce them again here (I can - they're my copyright!)

[larger] A supremely local spread (most of it) to Melksham - plenty of Well House Manor! I also note Newport, South Wales, Iford Manor (about 10 miles from us) and our offices as well as the public facing stuff. The fields around the town look inviting, the historic picture of the railway station shortly after closure in 1966 less so. But, yes, it was reopened in 1985.

[larger] A mixture of course delegates, duck and swans ... and some trains and railway stuff (a bit of a personal interest that one!) starting to appear. Westminster Abbey and Weymouth sit alongside a whole load more pictures of Melksham, continuing to give a very board view of what we're about.

[larger] Almost exclusively Melksham ... Well House Manor in the snow, the town's Christmas light ... and more pictures of hotel rooms and delegates.

[larger] Staff, and delegates. Away from the business, I can spot Blue Ridge, Georgia, Cambridge, Hillier Gardens, Westbury and Guadalajara!

[larger] I am relieved to tell you that the dumped shopping trolley in the mud is in Scotland, the unattractive Cinema is the Odeon in Beckenham, and that the prettier scenes are closer to home - Old Sarum and Bath, Weymouth and Wantage.

[larger]We host the Melksham Chamber of Commerce web site - and I'm currently the President - so it's no surprise that their logo comes up. Then you have one of the two founders / authors of MySQL, who we spent some time with on a cruise, and Caerphilly Castle. Such is the variety of life.

[larger]As we get down the image list, you'll find some of the older pictures such as our previous training room (before we opened the hotel). I'm still seated in that room today, although it's not quite as tidy. Screen captures form an important part of many illustrative articles and you'll see that some are starting to come in at this point.

[larger] We do a lot of training, and you'll start to see some "whiteboard shots" starting to creep in - such pictures are often used on my blog to illustrate something I'm saying as a really quick way of painting a thousand words. And I can spot Nottingham, Bath, Chepstow, Newport and Potterne in the external pictures.

[larger] A final spread. The river Avon in Melksham. The river Thames at Lechlade. The beach at Severn Beach. The Mersey at Liverpool. And a badly discoloured stream near Lydney. Water and waterside pictures are always attractive, and you'll see that I have taken and published my fill!

I've let myself spend a few minutes adding a commentary there - to show you a little more about us in pictures. Let you know what a great place Melksham is, what a fabulous hotel we have at Well House Manor, and how wonderful our course setting is. Pictures can't show you how much you'll learn on a course, but they may give you a clue. You'll see plentiful equipment, well spaced, happy and smiling delegates, and useful diagrams. And you'll see excellent facilities for use outside the courses. The current course schedules is [here] ... and we're now listing courses up to 18 months ahead.

Please come share our world. To see Wiltshire. Or to learn PHP or Perl, Python or Lua. We look forward to the having the opportunity to welcome you.
