The BMI (Body to Mass index) maybe taken as an approximate measure that a person is of the right build. It's calculated by dividing the weight of the person in kgs by their height in metres squared - thus a 100 kg person who is 2 metres tall has a BMI of 100 / (2 x 2) = 25. A BMI of under 20 is commonly regarded as being underweight and a BMI over 25 is overweight; once a BMI of over 30 is calculated, it may be an indication of a serious problem with obesity, but you should only take that as a general indicator and always consult a qualified doctor for specific information / advise with regard to any individual or group of individuals.
