Melksham station suffers from being at the end of a no through road, so buses cannot easily turn and do not provide a service.

The new Spencer Gate development, though, has a roundabout with an access built (protected) to serve a new section of road to the station, making it a loop road connecting the A350 to the A365.

With this new road, the following buses could serve the station in Melksham:

Hourly:
Route 234 - Frome, Trowbridge, Melksham, Lacock, Chipenham

Hourly:
Route X71/2 - Bath, Melksham, Devizes, Easterton, Urchfont

Twice an hour:
Route 14 - Melksham town service

Other buses less frequently.

About 60 metres of hard core road to be tarmaced.

The new road would give easy walking access to the shops and residential area of North Melksham including Leekes and Mcdonalds, which is close enough to gain extra business from rail users.

Objections may need to be overcome from businesses and residences, although the land has been earmarked for these improvements for years and Spencers Gate built with them in mind, so it should be a surprise to no-one.
