Malmesbury Abbey

Malmesbury Abbey is just a few paces to the north of the town centre of the ancient town of Malmesbury - about 10 miles north of Chippenham (so that makes it about 20 miles from the Wellhouse base in Melksham).

The Abbey itself is in ruins, but at the heart, the Abbey Church is still very much alive - indeed, the congregation was arriving for a Sunday service when we were in the area to take these pictures.

Malmesbury is the land of St. Elmo, the flying monk; you'll find him celebrated not only in the Abbey, but in every corner of the town too - there's even a St. Elmo's Barber's shop!
