A Day trip to Bath Christmas Market
Bath Christmas Market, 7th December 2008
![]() Traffic Jam on the way into Bath Bath has a horrendous traffic problem - even on the quietest day of the week, which is a Sunday. We chose to ride the bus ... ![]() Do not dive into the river ![]() First Moving Pictures Caption reads: To perpetuate the name and memory of John Arthus Roebuck Rudge aho lived for many years in the adjoining house and after numerous experiments conducted in the basement was the first Englishman to produce moving pictures by means of photographs mounted on a revolving drum And also of his friend William Friese-Greens who had his studio at No 9 The Corridor nearby, the inventor of commercial kinematography. Being the first man to apply celluloid ribbon for this purpose. Kinematography can thus be attributed to the labours of these two citizens of Bath where this wonderful invention undoubtedly received its birth. ![]() Overlooking the Gardens ![]() Gluhwein in Bath It seemed a little ironic to be drinking a hot alcholic beverage under the signs around Bath Abbey that ban alcoholic drinks, and I question the hypocracy of the rules! ![]() First King Caption reads: Edgar, First King of All England, was crownws by Dunstan, Archbishop of Canterbury in the Saxon Abbey on this site on Whitsunday A.D.973 ![]() Bath Market Hall ![]() Artisitic Names ![]() Buying the Nuts ![]() Bath park and ride ![]() Park and Ride With all of the central car parks full, the Park and Ride services were doing a roaring trade. "Just put up a sign and the British will queue" said Lisa - so I guess these pictures show you that the place was full of shoppers from elsewhere in this country rather than the tourists we see in summer. ![]() Rugby at Bath ![]() Saxaphone player ![]() Silly Moo in Bath A selection of stalls - see the gurning woman on "Silly Moo". I wouldn't choose to call her this, but I think she's brought it on herself! ![]() A Bath Snack in a square ![]() Southgate centre under construction Perhaps, by this time next year, we'll arrive at the new Bus Station and shop in the new shops ... ![]() Bath to Melksham, Devizes and Easterton I suspect it's the 18:30 that's 25 minutes late ... but it could have been the 19:30 running 35 minutes early ;-) ![]() Religious statues for sale in Bath Perhaps there's a message in the fact that the ONLY stall that wasn't busy was the one selling religious statues! ![]() The bus has just dropped us off Map locator - Christmas_Market
