After London, Birmingham is England's second city. Less than 2 hours by train from London, it's set on the West Midlands plateau beyond Coventry and has a long and honorable industrial past. The Canal network of the UK served (and serves) Birmingham from all angles - so much so that it's sometimes referred to as "The Venice of the North".
