I've been known to say that there's a different and more beautiful Scotland beyond the Great Glen - once you get past Loch Ness and
Inverness, the scenery changes. On the west coast, you have beautiful fishing villages such as Ullapool, Kyle of Lochalsh, Lochinver and Kinlochbervie .. then on to the Inner Hebredies such as the
Isleofskye and Mull, and the outer
Hebrides - Lewis, Harris and Uist.

Ullapool (Ulapul) is set on a low piece of land that juts out into Loch Broom and is the ferry port for Stornoway

Ullapool
A little to the South of Ullapool, you come to Loch Alsh and the town of Kyle of Lochalsh - of which I have fond memories. Just up the Loch, on the corner of Loch Dornie, Castle Eilean Donan was built on a tiny islet.
